Bridge The Gap Workouts : More Than Just My Last Name

Danielle Bridge here... yes, I married into an awesome name for my company!  "Bridge The Gap Workouts: Bridging the Gap In Your Day To Make Fitness A Lifestyle "...lets get into what BTG REALLY means & the story behind my journey!

I've always had an interest in working out, not a passion.  About 10 years ago, I moved home from college and started going to the gym with my now husband Vince, stepped outside of my comfort zone and started lifting weights with him (unlike the cardio queen I was in college). This is where I started to see results!  Friends began to ask if I could help them as we were all getting married around the same time.  Fast forward about a few years later, the manager at the gym asked if I would be interested in teaching group fitness!  The answer was "HELL YEAH!" Mind you, I was 3 months postpartum and listening to everyone tell me there's no way my husband and I were going to make it work at the gym after having a baby.

January 2014 - My first group fitness class. Yes, I was nervous (legit said ummm my stomach can't take this workout right now), but the second I got in front of the class, that's where the PASSION started!  I saw the impact I had on members in the 45 minutes of HIIT...I knew this was the start of something (a business 6 years later, no. but something!) So one day a week turned into two, which then turned into short workout videos on Facebook with my baby girl Ava or a friends, or my husband on the other side of the phone recording!

September 11, 2015 While sitting on the couch with my husband I said I want to turn this hashtag #bridgethegapworkouts into something more! I started to provide full workouts on my personal facebook, which then transpired into a separate @bridgethegapworkouts Instagram/Facebook.  Not too long after we found out we were pregnant with our second child! Then came the comments..."say goodbye to your workouts", "you should probably slow down with running", "are you sure you want to teach class still?" The answer to all this, WATCH US:)  We worked out a schedule that still fit in our family time, work & WORKING OUT.  Some of those workouts included Ava in the stroller or on my back for planks, My husband’s alarm going off at 4:20a to get to the gym before work, or packing my clothes and working out at work quickly before daycare pickup.

June 17th 2016-trying to "run the baby out".  Did I get looks at the gym while running? yes.  Did I have contractions the next morning and a beautiful baby boy born...YES:) Now came a new challenge...working out as a mom of two with a full time job and group fitness instructor on the side.  It was time to decide how I was going to make this PASSION into my career.  I worked at physical therapy office straight out of college for almost 8 years, telling my boss that I wanted to pursue my passion of Bridge The Gap Workouts had me losing sleep!  But you know what?  He made it easy. He is also now someone I go to for business advice.  When your boss of almost 8 years tells you he encourages you to follow your dream because he believes in you, that's something special!

September 8th, 2016- Bridge The Gap Workouts, LLC becomes official! Maternity leave was over, and it was time to slowly but surely move towards dedicating all my working hours to BTG.  Thankfully, I was able to work about 30 hours a week at The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County until I was ready to take this on full time! After a not so well attended workout event at Boardroom Spirits had me down, I still remember the owner, Z, telling me "When There's A Will There's A Way, and I can tell you have it"! Z’s words have stuck with me ever since, so when those "lows" of running your own business creep in, these words come to mind and I keep on keepin on.  She probably thinks I'm crazy, but I remind her every time I see her!

NOW- I am currently full time running my own business and loving the highs, the lows, and the awesomeness of fulfilling what I have a PASSION for...helping people find their FULL potential every time they step into a workout with me!  You can now find me instructing classes weekly at The North Penn Valley Boys and Girls Club every day of the week, Collaborating with local businesses to make workouts out of your excuses while highlighting their product (breweries, boutiques, hair salons & more!), or recording online workouts for Bridge The Gap Anywhere (an online workout and accountability group started in June 2018) or speaking for wellness events or at a business about the importance of fitness in their lives. I look forward to all the future has in store for me and my day to day craziness of Bridge The Gap Workouts!

I’m also currently on day 690 (as of 4/19)
of #BTGrunstreak ! That’s at least a mile a day every damn day. If none of this blog has motivated you, maybe my run streak will! Set yourself a goal, reach it, then set another:) I always say “if it doesn’t challenge ya, it doesn’t change ya” that’s true in all aspects of life!

If you've made it this far in this post, you are officially a part of this chapter of my book and I thank you for that!
