How are all of these emotions at one time possible?
Cats out of the bag and it look every ounce of courage for me to hit "post" on my Instagram to share
with the world that I am tackling Ironman Maryland this September. I've had lots of supporters sharing how excited they are for me. And I'm sure there are a lot of others who are keeping very quiet doubting that I will be able to finish.
What's an Ironman? Let me break it down for you:
The day is a total of 140.6 miles.
Swim 2.4 miles.
Bike 112 miles.
Run 26.2 miles.
You have 17 hours (until midnight) to complete this challenge.
Dear lord.
Does the thought of completing an Ironman overwhelming? A thousand percent. Am I scared to not finish? You bet, I calculate numbers in my head all day.
But honestly, the fear is what's fueling the fire in me to do this.
“Fear has two meanings: Forget everything and run OR face everything and rise. The CHOICE is yours.”
I feel like each and every day I am giving back, and giving to others. Well you know what, this year I'm ready to do something for me.
I've been eyeing up an Ironman since the moment I finished Atlantic City Half Ironman in September 2017 and now is the time. Now is the time to woman up, put in the work, find the drive, and get this bitch done. I'm doing this to prove to myself that I can accomplish big, scary goals. I'm doing this to show that Athena athletes who are not skinny and fast sure are tough as well. I'm doing this to show my future kids that setting goals and working towards them is the right thing to do in life. But most importantly, I'm doing this for me. To battle those demons in my head that creep up on me and try to say I'm weak.
Not today. Not this year.
I’m so excited to tackle this journey and share the entire process with you through my blog and social media. 266 days and counting.
Anything is possible.
Woo! So excited this is back And can’t wait to follow you on this journey!
