You Missed a Workout? It's okay, relax.

I wasn't going to make it.
miss a workout, something pops up, don’t freak out.

Years ago when I first started running I would FREAK OUT when I missed a run. Oh my god, I missed, I’m going to get slower, I just blew it!

Hold your horses. None of that will happen. I’m a planner. I plan my workouts and I always need a training plan. If I don’t have a plan I miss. And skip. And can’t make a routine. But by having a plan I always have buffer days for when things do get messed up. And I’ve also realized, if something happens and I don’t have time to make it up, that’s okay too! I repeat... it. Is. Oh. Kayyyyy.

Things happen and we must adapt. Last night I had a killer swim workout feeling great after 1050 yards and was ready to get up today for my 5am run with the crew. I’m dressed and ready to get out the door but the dogs were going nuts and barking like crazy. They wanted to be feed. So there I stood, fully dressed with lights on and wanted to be selfish. But I opted to pass.

Could I have let them go and let Taylor deal with it? Sure! But when your husband is on night shift and he’s not getting much sleep (because of dogs getting him up after I leave for work) and clearly has been moody/not himself lately (rightfully so!) I opted to pass.

To pass because my marriage means more that a 3 mile run. To pass because my husband deserves 5 hours of solid sleep for all he does for our family. To pass because I can get it in later. To pass because it’s not the end of the world.

Shit happens. Life happens. Don’t let one miss damper your day... just rework your day and move forward.
